Protected Areas, Habitats and Species

Applies to:

Storage I; Storage II; Pellet/Briquette Plant; CHP Plant

This indicator refers to the prevention of negative impacts of the project on the biodiversity and protected ecosystems. Biodiversity is defined as “the variability among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part; this includes diversity within species, between species and of ecosystems”. Ecosystem is “a dynamic complex of plant, animal and micro-organism communities and their non-living environment interacting as a functional unit”. The indicator considers project location and estimate of the potential impacts on protected habitats.
