Storage Characteristics

Description:

This indicator refers to the prevention of negative impacts of wastewater form the storage on nearby waters. For example, silage effluent has high BOD and is highly acidic. The indicator considers location and permeability of the storage.

Questions:

Is the storage facility located in a sensitive groundwater area?

Is the storage facility situated in an area prone to flooding?

Does the storage facility have impermeable base and walls?

Rating:

Storage with impermeable base and walls located outside sensitive groundwater area and area prone to flooding

Storage with impermeable base and walls located outside area prone to flooding, but within sensitive groundwater area

Storage with impermeable base and walls located within area prone to flooding

Storage with permeable base and walls
