Description:

This indicator refers to the prevention of negative impacts of air emissions on the residents. The indicator considers storage type (aboveground tank, underground lagoon or bag), storage cover (covered or open) and the type of cover (weather it is considered BAT). BAT for tanks include rigid lid, roof or tent structure, floating cover (chopped straw, natural crust, canvas, foil, peat, light expanded clay aggregate (LECA) or expanded polystyrene (EPS)), while for lagoons include (plastic cover, floating cover (chopped straw, light expanded clay aggregate (LECA), natural crust)).

In the EU BAT are obligatory for activities included in the Annex I of the Directive 2010/75/EU of the European Parliament and the Council on industrial emissions (the Industrial Emissions Directive).
